Better air in German ports

From now on, innovative pilot projects for testing environmentally friendly on-board as well as shore power systems can be subsidized by the German federal ministry of transport. Investors into alternative power systems can apply, for inland waterways as well as for seaports.

ABC Logistik GmbH expands within the port of Düsseldorf.

A new warehouse in the port of Düsseldorf is currently built for ABC Logistik GmbH by project developer Panattoni Europe. It contains a total logistics area of 11,600 m², plus office space, and adds to ABC’s existing logistics and warehousing space of about 60,000 m² in the Düsseldorf port area. The new warehouse is intended to optimize deliveries to nearby downtown Düsseldorf, for which it can serve as an interface, and will open in spring 2020.

Mannheim: pfenning logistics tests eActros trucks in shuttle services

Can an electric truck meet the performance of a diesel truck under the daily conditions of urban traffic? This is what logistics provider pfenning in Mannheim wants to find out, using a heavy eActros truck of Mercedes-Benz.

“We are of course eager to learn whether the batteries will operate up to the last palette, and what the drivers will report”, says pfenning logistics managing director Matthias Schadler. Pfenning operates across Europe with more than 800 trucks.
